We are currently working on a major series looking at a cross-section of New Zealand composers.

One of the foundation-stones of this production is the idea of islands within islands - geographical and human - and the building of bridges between individuals and cultures.

Ashley Heenan (1925-2004)

Sixty years ago Ashley Heenan joined the permanent staff of the New Zealand Broadcasting Service. In a career spanning 41 years he rose to prominence as a music administrator, composer and conductor. Ashley passed away on 6 September 2004 - just days short of his 79th birthday.

Christmas Day 2002 saw volunteers provide meals and gifts for more than 100 homeless and needy people at the Aro Valley Community Centre hall in Wellington, as well as delivering 80 meals to house-bound residents.
